Hybrid Battery Reconditioning: Short courses and dinner/seminars

EVc 30

EVc 30 hybrid battery reconditioning unit repairing a Prius pack

What is battery reconditioning?
Hybrid electric vehicle battery modules undergo shallow depths of discharge causing loss of module capacity. This reversible failure mode, or “memory effect” causes module-to-module variation of amp-hour (Ah) capacity, or an “out of balance” battery.

Below is battery charge/discharge data from a Ford Escape battery pack:

What tool is used for reconditioning?
The EVc series are fully automated battery reconditioning instruments.

  • All modules are connected in parallel to an EVc reconditioning unit.
  • The EVc rapidly identifies high resistance batteries, which are then switched out of the conditioning process.
  • Remaining modules are subjected to a series of deep, split-current, cycling.
  • Modules are reconditioned in parallel: Individual module voltages cannot be controlled when connected in series (as in the vehicle).

EVc reconditioners are available with 10, 30 and 40 channels
